Finding out my newborn was deaf was probably one of the most life changing experiences I have ever went through. A first time mom, trying to navigate everything that comes with having a baby, postpartum hormones, and the fact that my son was the first deaf person I had ever met. It was….a lot. Not knowing anyone in ‘real’ life that could relate, I turned to social media looking for answers and support. It took about 6 whole months to really come to terms with our reality and I eventually was able to learn, change my perspective, and see the beauty in this journey. For the past few years, my goal has been to shed light on the difficulties that come as a hearing family raising deaf children, adjusting, adapting, and advocating for families like mine, navigating motherhood experiences that might just be a little different but most importantly all the ways that we are the same. From hearing devices and ASL to everything motherhood, parenting, and marriage related, you'll find it here. Its crazy that there was a time I didn’t know if I would ever hear my child say “I love you” but that little saying has quickly become the sweetest sound of motherhood.
