Hi there! Thank you for visiting Sweet Sounds Of Motherhood, I am so glad you are here! My name is Felicia and I am the proud mama of Silas, Isaiah, and our sweet boy Eli in Heaven. I have been married to my best friend, Steve, for 4 years— our story is one of a kind. Four years ago, Silas was born and not even 24 hours later he was identified with profound “hearing loss”. (I use quotations there because if you ask me, it’s not a loss at all.) Silas was the first deaf person I had ever met. After a few miscarriages and losing our son Eli, we finally welcomed our rainbow baby, Isaiah! About two months later, he was also identified with severe-profound bilateral hearing loss! Over the past few years it went from being terrifying, unknown territory to the most beautiful, unexpected journey. I started sharing about our experiences to hopefully reach other families in similar situations, to bring awareness to childhood deafness, the importance of American Sign Language, and our personal experience with cochlear implants.
I also love sharing other aspects of our life and everything that these children are outside of their deafness—it’s a part of them but it doesn’t define them! I hope something here sparks your interest or inspires you in some way. I hope you’re here to stay! Feel free to send me emails with your questions & comments, Id love to hear from you! Oh, and thank you for your continued support, it is so appreciated!
